Since 2008, ICESI has been an informal collaboration between SI organizations for the purpose of equivalency and permeability of programs. It was established under the leadership of Susanne Smith Roley with 8 participating SI organizations.
In 2018, at ISIC in Cape Town, ICE-ASI was founded with the intention to become a formal international organization. The board (EXCO) 2018-21 worked hard to establish the organization under Portuguese law. While the organization was incorporated in Portugal, EU financial laws confronted the board with unsurmountible obstacles.
Thanks to the incredible work and persistence of Board member Kathryn Smith, the Board (EXCO) 2021-24 was eventually able to formally incorporate ICE-ASI at the UK Companies House under UK law in July 2022. The new board 2025-28 is now updating the legal status of ICE-ASI.
