The History of ISIC
The first ISIC took place in Cape Town, South Africa, in 2018. In 2019, ISIC was hosted in Hong Kong, China. Due to the pandemic, the ISIC scheduled for 2020 in California, including a celebration of Dr Ayres' 100th birthday, had to be postponed to 2022. In 2023, the largest ISIC took place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, with over 200 participants. The latest ISIC was held in the scenic bay of Sydney in October 2024.
This year, we are looking forward to an amazing ISIC in Porto, Portugal, in January 2026!
ISIC 2024
The newly formed non-profit organization ASI-Australia organized ISIC in Sydney in October 2024 in order to raise awareness, offer educational opportunities, and advocacy in Ayres Sensory Integration (ASI)® in Australia. The congress theme was "Elevating Evidence Based Practice in ASI".
ISIC 2023
The Brazilian Sensory Integration Association (ABIS) hosted ISIC 2023 in partnership with the ICE-ASI. The theme of this congress could not be more relevant: INNOVATIONS IN AYRES' SENSORY INTEGRATION.

ISIC 2022 took place at the origins of SI, in Southern California, on July 14-16, 2022. The title of the congress was "Sensory Neural Foundations For Social Connection".
Big names in the fields of SI and autism such as Roseann Schaaf, Margret Bauman, Grace Baranek, Anita Bundy, and many more made for an intriguing program. The congress included the belated celebration of Dr Ayres' 100th birthday.
Each day of ISIC 2022 was dedicated to one of the 3 goals of the ASI 2020 Vision:
Thursday (Scholarship: Basic and Applied Science informing and updating ASI Theory) Current research related to sensory integration and praxis
Friday (Children Understood via Comprehensive and Accessible Assessments) Research including reliability and validity of the EASI, SPM, and related measures
Saturday (Translating Research into Practice: Worldwide training and pathways to competency using ASI) Innovations in education, practice, and advocacy
Like all great things, we started small. We took a few like-minds with a shared vision—and ran with it. Today, we’ve grown into something big.
